Thai Wah collab with VGREEN KU to evaluate Carbon Footprint from cassava farms.

Thai Wah Public Company Limited (TWPC), a leader in agriculture and food businesses in Southeast Asia for over 76 years, has signed a memorandum of understanding with VGREEN KU Company Limited, a specialized center for eco-friendly business strategies at the Faculty of Environment, Kasetsart University. The collaboration aims to drive and elevate Thai entrepreneurs towards eco-friendly business practices through the creation of greenhouse gas inventory data for cassava plantation areas.

This cooperation is part of the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER) of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO). The process involves calculating carbon footprint and carbon credit, assessing economic feasibility, and registering the carbon footprint label for renewable products. This is a significant step for Thai Wah towards advancing Thailand’s Carbon Neutrality goal and ensuring long-term sustainability for the Thai agriculture and economy sectors.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rattanawan Mangklang, Managing Director of VGREEN KU Company Limited, said: “VGREEN KU is committed to contributing to Thailand’s carbon neutrality goal by creating knowledge, developing standards, and tools for credible greenhouse gas verification and carbon footprint assessment. Through this memorandum of understanding with Thai Wah, we can bring our expertise to help Thai Wah achieve tangible carbon footprint reductions in their cassava farm business. This is a promising start to expanding into various agricultural sectors in Thailand. We believe that our collaboration with Thai Wah will be a crucial step in promoting sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture in Thailand.”

Ho Ren Hua, CEO and Director of Thai Wah Public Company Limited, revealed: “As a leading regional Agrifood  company, our long-term goal is to Create Innovation and Sustainability from Farm to Shelf. Thai Wah is committed to building sustainable business operations in APAC. This collaboration with VGREEN KU reflects our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture, particularly starting with our cassava farm network covering over 10,000 rai in Udon Thani and Rayong provinces. Our clear objective is to reduce 50% carbon footprint in agriculture by utilizing appropriate knowledge and technologies for efficient farm management and exploring the feasibility of participating in the T-VER program, which will not only benefit our farming communities but also serve as a sustainable model and catalyze nationwide change.”
